Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore, in collaboration with Indian Laser Association is organizing the 24th National Laser Symposium during December 2-5, 2015. The symposium is sponsored by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy. The symposium aims to create a platform for researchers in the field of laser physics, technology and applications, to interact with each other and network with eminent scientists in the field. The symposium will cover invited talks by leading experts, poster presentation of the contributed papers, and thesis presentation by Ph.D. students. The Indian Laser Association will also conduct short courses prior to the Symposium. The symposium organizing committee cordially invites all the scientists, engineers, and students engaged in the basic and applied research in the broad areas of laser and related fields, to participate in the symposium.

Paper and Thesis Submission

Authors are requested to submit a full-length manuscript in the specified format before last date, as per the guidelines and instructions provided in the NLS-24 website. Use MS word 2007 or higher version in ’.doc’ format. The length of the manuscript should be at least 2 pages and not more than 4 pages (including figures, references, tables etc.). A separate short abstract (maximum 100 words) as per the guidelines should be submitted as well.
Ph.D. students who have submitted their theses in the topics of interest of the symposium, or expect to submit the thesis by October 31, 2015, and those who have been awarded Ph.D. degree after January 1, 2015, are eligible for thesis presentation. Those interested should send a four-page summary of their thesis by Sept. 9, 2015 along with a certificate from their Ph.D. guide specifying the date of submission of thesis or award of the degree.
A Book of Abstracts containing abstracts of peer reviewed contributed papers, invited talks, and thesis summaries, and a CD containing full manuscripts, will be made available to the participants during the symposium. The Book of Abstracts and CD will be publised with ISBN 978-81-903321-6-3

Poster size and orientation:It may be noted that the size of the poster boards to be provided for the poster session will be three feet wide and four feet long (in portrait format). The size of posters hence may be restricted to a maximum of two feet nine inches wide and three feet nine inches long.

The invited talks, papers selected for the "Best Paper Award", and articles based on the work of "Best Thesis Award", will be published in Kiran, the ILA Newsletter.

Accommodation

Effort will be made to provide shared hostel accommodation to the student participants. Since the accommodation at RRCAT Guest House is rather limited, most of the outstation participants will be accommodated in hotels in single/ sharing (AC/ non-AC) rooms. Choice of the room partner may be provided by the registered participants on the NLS-24 website while booking the accommodation. For more details about the hotels, please visit the NLS-24 website.

All participants should upload the accommodation request on the NLS-24 website. One day room rent should be sent as an advance for the booking of hotel accommodation. Please note that accommodation in hotels would be booked only after receipt of an advance deposit.The delegates coming with family or accompanying person will have to make their own arrangements.

ILA Short Courses and Exhibition

The Indian Laser Association (ILA), the co-organizer of NLS-24, will organize short tutorial courses on November 30 – December 1, 2015 at the symposium venue. ILA will announce the details of these courses separately. ILA will announce the details of these courses separately. ILA will also award prizes for the “Best Thesis” and “Best Poster” presentations. The annual general body meeting of ILA will be held. Financial Assistance

Financial assistance towards local hospitality and travel by train (sleeper class) by the shortest route can be provided to a limited number of deserving students. Applications for the assistance with a letter of recommendation from research guide / Head of the Department and addressed to the Organizing Secretary, NLS-24 should reach him on or before 4st November 2015

The delegates or students coming with family or accompanying person will have to make their own arrangements.

Please also note that they are strictly not permitted to avail the symposium facilities (attending lectures, breakfast, lunch, dinner etc.).

During day time it is approx.  ₹250, auto will be cheaper but gas-kit fitted or driver without licence is not allowed in campus

Symposium Venue

The Symposium is being organized at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore. It is situated at the south-western end of the Indore city. RRCAT campus is a place rich in natural flora and fauna. Sukhniwas palace, gardens, one big and two small lakes mesmerize the shimmering beauty of the campus.
